World Languages
The courses in this department integrate a variety of materials and cultural experiences to meet the national standards for Foreign Language Study in the five areas of communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities.
College-bound students should plan to take a minimum of two levels of the same foreign language. Students who begin the study of a language at middle school level should continue with the same language. Students may begin a language at any grade level; however, it is preferable to begin no later than the eleventh grade. Students should plan to take all language courses in succeeding semesters when possible. Please speak with your guidance counselor if you have any questions regarding course sequencing.
Level 1 World Languages are open to all students but it is recommended that first year high school students electing to begin taking their language courses be in an English course that is not paired with a seminar.
