About Me

Education:

B. A. in English from Columbia College, Columbia, SC

M. A. in English from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX

Experience:

Prior to returning to teaching in 2000, I managed portfolios of properties for numerous entities both private and governmental for manyyears. I bring a unique perspective to the classroom of the skills/abilities required for not only the college-bound student but also the workplace-bound individuals.

In my free time -- besides reading, cooking, tennis, kayaking, and grandchildren -- I enjoy travelling and have had opportunities from experiencing Siberia (above the Arctic Circle) to China -- and many points in between. One recent summer, a Native American friend and I travelled over 4,000 thousand miles throughout the West "without reservations" visiting points of fascinating interest. We have a remarkable country.

Philosophy of Teaching

Quotes:

"Learning is not a spectator sport." -- Anonymous

"The important thing is not to stop questioning." --Albert Einstein

"The whole world opened to me when I learned to read." -- Mary McLeod Bethune
