Support Lab is designed exclusively for students with an Individualized Education Plan. Its purpose is to provide students with academic support for their regular education courses, while strengthening skills in reading, math, and written expression. In addition, students engage in activities which address post-secondary opportunities, self-advocacy skills and strategies.
I tend to work with 2nd year students. As a result, we often engage in activities which address skills assessed on the High School Assessment Program (HSAP), our state's exit exam.
As a Support Lab teacher, I work closely with our school's regular education teachers. These partnerships affords me the opportunity to stay current with a student's workload and academic and behavioral progress.
My ultimate goal is to assist students in becoming life-long, independent learners.
